Languages!

The official language of China is Standard Mandarin, so maybe taking some lessons in Standard Mandarin or bringing one of those English-Mandarin dictionaries might help, but there are alot of people there that speak english; so it should be fine!

Population:

The Population of China is 1,344,130,000 (as of 2011) but is steadily increasing. The fertility rate of China is 1.7, which means that each woman gives birth to 1.7 children throughout her whole life.  

Beijing's population is 20,180,000  (as of 2011), so the city must be crowded. Be aware of pickpockets! Stay away from large crowds!

Time zone and Climate:

The climate in China is very diverse as it is such a large country.

Northern China is known for its hot, dry summers and long, cold winters. In central China, the summers are hot and humid, with heavy rainfall during the late summer months. Southern China's climate is considered to be sub-tropical and rainfall is evenly distributed throughout the year. Summers are long, hot and humid; while the winters are short with cooler temperatures.

 Autumn is around September to November 
Winter is around December to February
